A Fort Pierce, Florida, man is in the Palm Beach County Jail after he allegedly offered undercover officers unlicensed dental services at the Sunshine Flea Market in suburban West Palm Beach.
Yousef Abuelhawa, a native of Israel, is facing charges of practicing dental hygiene without a license, operating a nonregistered dental laboratory and being a nonlicensed person in control of dental equipment. Abuelhawa, 43, is being held is lieu of $9,000 bail.
Abuelhawa runs “Best Grillz in Town” at the flea market in the West Palm Shopping Center at Forest Hill Boulevard and Military Trail. According to an arrest report, Palm Beach County sheriff’s undercover officers visited the practice on April 8 and May 7.
In the May 7 visit, Abuelhawa allegedly offered to make custom gold teeth overlays — known as grills — for $250. On both visits, undercover officers said they observed neither sterilization nor cleaning equipment to perform dental procedures, the report said.
The sheriff’s office took action against Abuelhawa after the Florida Department of Health received a complaint against the business. State records show that neither the business nor Abuelhawa or licensed.
