Davante Hogue is only 8 months old, but he has been through a lot in his short life. Born prematurely with his twin brother, Delante, Davante suffered a brain bleed, which has kept him in the hospital.
Mother Erica Hogue told KOB that in December, a nurse accidentally cut off Davante's pinky toe while placing an IV in her infant son's foot.
Circulation could not be restored and the toe was lost. The hospital has apologized for the incident, but Davante’s parents are not satisfied and are considering a lawsuit.
Right now, Davante’s parents just want to get their son home from the hospital to join his twin brother.
The hospital declined to comment on the case, citing patient privacy regulations.
Unthinkable. A baby already facing countless medical challenges is set back even further because of the actions of a nurse, and that baby’s mother is very upset.
