The Chaffee family has endured multiple tragedies over the last several years. Husband and father Greg Chaffee died suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 55 in 2012. Two years later, son Matthew Chaffee was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident. His brother, Adam, took care of him until he also became paralyzed after a swimming accident in 2015.
In the midst of facing such difficulties with strength and resolve, the Chaffee family has been the recipient of the kindness of friends, family and strangers. A successful GoFundMe campaign has raised over $90,000 to help pay with the brothers' mounting medical bills. A fundraising website, Chaffee Strong, was created to raise money for a customized mobility van.
