A Michigan library just added a long-lost book back to its shelves.
According to a post on Herrick District Library's Facebook page, a man returned an overdue library book after nearly five decades.
"I was a student at Hope College in 1967," the man wrote in a letter. "I must have been doing a paper or some research on World War II."
The book loaner said that over the years, the book got mixed in with his personal belongings. Years after he moved to New York, he discovered the book in a trunk.
"Please accept the book and my modest donation to cover what I am sure is a tremendous fine," the man wrote in the letter he sent with the book.
It's unclear just how much the man racked up in late fees, but Sara DeVries, community relations manager for the library, told WGN that the donation was for $100.
We received this letter in the mail this week. Love it.
