Humans aren’t the only ones being forced to evacuate their homes as wildfires blaze through parts of California.
Bodycam footage shows police officers in Solano County helping SPCA personnel evacuate dozens of pets on Aug. 10. Vacaville police officers and first responders were called to the shelter as the Nelson Fire surrounded the SPCA of Solano County.
On Facebook, the organization wrote they "were forced to evacuate under extremely short notice."
In the footage, officers can be seen rushing in and out of the shelter, putting as many animals as possible in their patrol cars. In the end, all 60 animals were rescued and are now in the care of foster homes as the shelter is put back in order.
The Nelson Fire broke out on Aug. 10 at 4:57 p.m. Fire crews had the wildfire 100 percent contained by Aug. 12. More than 2,160 acres were burned by the fire.
