Sullivan County Deputy Steve Hinkle is being treated at a hospital, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office spokesman Andy Seabolt told the Bristol Herald-Courier.

The suspect was later found dead inside his home, according to authorities.

The suspect had barricaded himself in a house on Highway 394, which law enforcement had surrounded, WCYB-TV reported.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, were on the scene. At least one road near a Dollar General store in Blountville has been blocked off.
