If you are attending a wedding this summer, you may want to reconsider your gift choice.
A survey conducted by Wakefield Research on behalf of retailer Best Buyfound 76 percent of couples would prefer to add an Ultra High-Definition TV to their wedding registry over formal china place settings.
The survey also found that 74 percent of couples say they prefer a gift that’s useful rather than sentimental.
“Just as weddings are changing, so are the gifts couples are looking for,” said Wendy Fritz, Best Buy’s head of gifting strategy. “Both the bride and groom are spending more time than ever on their registries, and tech items are showing up more and more because of how couples live and work today.”
Couples also have higher expectations for what their wedding guests will spend on them – half estimate the average cost of the wedding gifts they received exceeded $50, the survey found.
In February, Best Buy launch a wedding registry, allowing tech-savvy couples to register for the latest electronics, gadgets and gear.
