New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul injured his hand while trying to light fireworks Saturday.
Multiple tweets indicated Pierre-Paul got a rental van full of fireworks for a Fourth of July celebration in South Florida, according to NFL.com. Pierre-Paul also posted an Instagram video before the incident.
The extent of the injury is not known, but reports indicate Pierre-Paul burned his palm and three fingers, and another finger could have nerve damage. He did not lose any fingers.
Pierre-Paul went to the hospital, according to NFL.com. The injury does not appear to be career threatening, according to a tweet from Adam Shefter, who covers the NFL for ESPN.
Pierre-Paul is not under contract and the injury could impact his future with the Giants, according to NFL.com.
