A sergeant for the Saratoga County, New York, sheriff's department was suspended after a video posted to YouTube reportedly showed him slapping a man.
According to the Albany Times Union, Sgt. Shawn R. Glans, 48, is accused of slapping a man who refused to let the deputy search his car. The man, who apparently recorded the incident on video, reportedly had a rifle in his back seat.
Glans, who has 27 years' experience as a law enforcement officer, was suspended without pay and faces an internal investigation, the Times Union reported.
"I don't condone activity as it's portrayed, and we're going to look into it, and we'll handle this quickly and swiftly," said Sheriff Michael Zurlo.
