If you are traveling to New York City this Fourth of July weekend, be prepared to see a lot of law enforcement officials.

That's because New York City has ramped up its counterterrorism and security measures in the light of a potential ISIS-led terrorist attack, CNN reports. The Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and the National Counterterrorism Center issued a joint intelligence bulletin to local law enforcement agencies, warning them to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity over the holiday weekend.

"This may be the most complex counter-terrorism overlay for this event ever. Again, this is not driven by any information or particular threat as much as it's driven by the unfolding world events," said Deputy Chief John Miller, NYPD Intelligence & Counter-Terrorism at a press conference.

The high-profile international terrorism attacks that recently occurred in Tunisia, France and Kuwait have also made New York City law enforcement officials concerned.

According to CNN, New York City will have several thousand uniformed and plain clothes law enforcement members patrolling the city, along with bomb-sniffing dogs, radiation-detecting devices, air and water patrols and will closely monitor 7,000 closed-circuit cameras.

In addition to the patriotism attached to Fourth of July that could make the holiday a target for terrorists, it is also Ramadan and last month, ISIS urged followers "To make Ramadan a month of calamities for the nonbelievers."
