It started with former NFL star Joe Namath showing solidarity with the families of two missing boys.
Then there was a country singer and a Disney Channel star with local roots. Now, two NASCAR drivers have tweeted their support for the search for Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen, The Palm Beach Post reported.
The two 14-year-old Tequesta boys have been missing since they left the Jupiter Inlet for a fishing trip Friday. The U.S. Coast Guard and private planes continue their search for the boys. Late Wednesday, the search had coveredalmost 40,000 square nautical miles since it began.
NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson early Thursday morning tweeted, "Please help. #FindAustinandPerry," along with the flier with their photos.
He joined fellow NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon, who tweeted, "Please join me in supporting #FindAustinandPerry" with the flier late Wednesday night.
The two aren’t the only celebrities to spread awareness and support.
Disney Channel star Billy Unger, who is from Jupiter, auctioned off a lunch for two people with him at Jumbo Bay Island Grill to raise money for the private search. He tweeted about it, along with the hashtags #FindAustinandPerry and #JupiterStrong.
He followed country singer Alan Jackson. Jackson on Tuesday tweeted, "Praying for a safe return home for these boys & everyone searching for them!" with a link to a flier about Wednesday night's fundraiser at Jumbo Bay Island Grill.
