Nas is adding children’s book author to his list of accomplishments.
Vibe reported that the 45-year-old rapper announced on Instagram on Thursday that he is releasing his first children's book, "I Know I Can." The title is a nod to his 2002 single "I Can" from the album "God's Son."
The book will be released through MAJR, the kids' toys and apparel brand from Mass Appeal, a New York-based media company. Nas, an owner of the company, told Forbes in 2013 he invested six figures into the brand.
"His song 'I Can' embodies everything that MAJR represents," Mass Appeal CEO Peter Bittenbender told FastCompany. "There are a lot of layers to it, but overall it's a message of inspiration. It's a message of limitless possibility."
"I've always understood the limitless power of young people, and being a father has brought it even closer to home," he said in a statement, according to Vibe. "We're introducing MAJR to prepare today's youth for tomorrow's world. Our goal is to help children of all backgrounds fully realize their potential by tapping into their creativity in new and innovative ways."
Nas, whose real name is Nasir Jones, is father to two children: Knight Jones, 9, from his marriage with Kelis, and Destiny Jones, 25, from his relationship with singer Carmen Bryan.
A release date for the book has not been announced, but it is listed on MAJRKids.com.
