A multi-structure fire is burning in the Cherry Grove area of North Myrtle Beach, WPDE reports.

The blaze started at about 9 p.m. and quickly spread to at least four other structures.

Fire officials were initially unable to respond because of the storm surge brought by Hurricane Matthew.

The buildings are on oceanfront property within a mandatory evacuation zone ahead of the storm.
