Most destructive wildfire in Colorado history
Blaze near Boulder, Colo., has scorched about 6,200 acres, or roughly 10 square miles, destroying more than 135 homes and forcing the evacuation of 3,500 people.

A fire extends beyond the hills over Broomfield, Colo. on Sept. 6, 2010. Gov. Bill Ritter declared a state of emergency as officials estimated the fire's size at more than 7,100 acres, or 11 square miles. At one point the plume from the fire could be seen in Wyoming, 90 miles to the north.
