Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the sixth-busiest airport in the country, said American Airlines would reduce its operations starting Saturday evening, and scattered cancellations are expected through Monday morning.

American Airlines has issued a travel alert for at least 17 airports. The travel alert allows customers whose travel plans may be impacted by this inclement weather to rebook without paying fees.

Travelers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Cancellations were reported on flights from as far as the Midwest.
