The video shows the boaters chasing the moose, and then one of them jumps onto its back.

Conservation officers are taking the incident seriously.

“I was absolutely disgusted. It’s not illegal, it's absolutely unethical. That moose was chased around for who knows how long,” said Steve Wolfe, a hunter who found the video online.

Conservation officers say what they're doing is indeed illegal under British Columbia's Wildlife Act and that it's cruel to the animal.

The exact location of the incident has yet to be confirmed, but it is believed to have happened last July on Tuchodi Lakes in Northern Rocky Mountains Provincial Park.

They say the boaters could face fines of up to $100,000.
