Authorities in Richmond, Virginia are investigating a brutal sexual assault on a 17-month-old girl that resulted in her death.
Nariah Brown was attacked in her room at the Colony House Motor Lodge on Thursday after her mother, Aija Brown, left her with someone she said she knew and trusted, according to WWBT-TV.
Brown said when she returned to the room, she found the girl had been the victim of a severe sexual attack, WWBT reported.
The mother rushed the child to a hospital, where she died two days later.
Police have a person of interest in custody, but no charges have been filed. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in the case and are continuing their investigation.
