A missing Texas toddler was found dead Sunday afternoon in a pond near her New Chapel Hill home, authorities said.

According to the Tyler Morning Telegraph, crews from multiple agencies had been searching for 3-year-old Madison Williams since she was reported missing about 10 a.m. Sunday. Her mother told deputies that the girl may have disappeared as early as 7 a.m., the Smith County Sheriff's Office said.

After an hourslong search involving drones, ATVs and police dogs, authorities found Madison's body in a pond behind her house off County Road 210, KLTV and the Telegraph reported.

The Sheriff's Office took to Facebook late Sunday to offer condolences to Madison's loved ones.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this little angel," the post read.

The death remains under investigation, authorities said.
