A driver was shot and killed by police Sunday while trying to crash a minivan through barricades during a chicken wing festival in downtown Reno.

A Reno police officer was guarding the barricade when the driver kept heading the minvan for him, according to KTVN.

The officer shot as the driver was trying to drive through, police told KOLO-TV.

No one was hit by the driver.

WingFest, hosted by the Silver Legacy Resort Casino, has about 80,000 attendees who sample some 20,000 pounds of wings during the event Saturday through Monday.

The event is expected to continue as planned. However, some parts of it are closed, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries where he later died, according to KTVN.
