Michigan hunters donate 54K pounds of venison to the needy

The Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger has donated more than 54,000 pounds of venison to food banks across the state, a record amount for the group.

The 54,157 pounds of venison processed and donated to 88 different food pantries throughout Michigan surpasses the 52,000 pounds the group donated in 2018, WZZM reported.

Firearm deer season in Michigan is Nov. 15 to Nov. 30, according to the state's Department of Natural Resources.
