A 4-year-old girl in South Florida came inches away from being struck by a metal pole while sitting in her car seat on Monday, according to the Coral Springs Fire Department.

In a Facebook post, the Coral Springs Fire Department said a metal pole went through the windshield of a minivan that crashed through a fence.

Photos shared by the fire department showed the pole took out the passenger headrest, made its way into the second row, then into the child seat.

The Coral Springs Fire Department called the incident the "close call" of the year.
