An eruption above the sun's surface caused a cascade of magnetic arches that a NASA video captured in December.
The video was colorized to show the extreme ultraviolet wavelengths, which are typically invisible to human eyes, according to NASA.
A dark solar filament above the sun's surface became unstable and led to the eruption, according to NASA.
