CNN reported that according to the United Kingdom's Met Office, temperatures were as high as 102 degrees Fahrenheit Wednesday.
"They called the police to get them out of there because the container was locked from the outside," a spokesman for Antwerp's shipping police told CNN. It took two hours to find the container, police said.
Video of the arrest obtained by The Telegraph shows police wearing bulletproof vests and opening the container. When the men, who had stripped to their waists, came out of the container, police found cocaine inside.
The Telegraph reported that authorities said the men entered the container "to remove drugs." The Associated Press reported that the men somehow locked themselves in and were allegedly looking for drugs, according to Antwerp police.
It is not known how much cocaine was in the shipping container. Police are investigating. The men were arrested and charged with importing drugs and belonging to a criminal organization, according to the AP. They remained in custody after appearing in court on Thursday.
