A Chipotle restaurant in Billerica has been shut down after reports of norovirus.
According to the Board of Health, inspectors visited the restaurant around 3:30 p.m. to find that the store had already been closed.
The Board of Health told FOX25 there is one employee with a confirmed case of norovirus and two other employees with suspected cases.
“What it is, is one case confirmed, two suspected. Employees called in sick today. They did not report to the restaurant,” Sandra Giroux, chairperson of the Billerica Board of Health, said.
Town Manager John Curran tells FOX25 employees were inside getting rid of all of the food and cleaning the store.
"After learning that four of our employees were not feeling well, our restaurant in Billerica, Mass. was closed for a full sanitization," a statement from Chipotle to FOX25 said.
Health inspectors are set to return to the store on Wednesday for a thorough inspection before they are allowed to reopen.
