A West Virginia man was apparently moved so much by an anti-drug speech given by President Barack Obama that he called police to his house to confiscate a large amount of drugs.

During a speech on Oct. 21 in Charleston, W.V., Obama talked personally about how he had done illegal drugs as a young man.

A few hours after the speech, the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office got a call from a man who asked police to take his drugs and help him kick his habit.

When police arrived, they found a cooler of drugs that contained 16 packs of the powerful opiate suboxone, marijuana, 19 grams of ecstasy and 158 pain pills, according to a press release.

Before being voluntarily admitted to a drug treatment center, the man said he wanted to get clean for his mother and was motivated to do so after Obama’s speech.

"We applaud this person's self-initiated efforts and wish him well in his recovery," the sheriff's office said in a press release.

The man, described only as being in his mid-30s, won’t face any charges stemming from the incident.
