Police said they pulled over a man, identified as 29-year-old Tristan Williams of Baton Rouge, on a traffic violation but, in an unusual move, Williams handed the responding officer a burned marijuana joint before getting out of his vehicle, according to WBRZ-TV.

It might have ended there, but it didn’t.

Williams, before police knew what happened, jumped back into his car and fled the scene, WBRZ reported.

Officers chased Williams down Interstate 10 toward Lake Charles and finally captured him after deploying spike strips to stop his vehicle.

He’s facing a range of charges, including reckless driving, aggravated flight in a vehicle, marijuana possession and driving on a suspended license.
