A man in Delaware spends two months decorating his home with Christmas lights – and he’s been doing the same thing for 33 years.
Tom Smith says he comes up with a $4,000 electric bill to light the nearly 700,000 Christmas lights around his two-acre property in Wilmington.
Smith says his tradition started when he lost both of his parents. He says he wanted to put up lights that were so bright, his parents could see them from heaven.
“’That’s my boy,’” Smith said. “That’s what I think they would say.”
Smith’s display is so popular, state police have to direct traffic around the neighborhood.
