A man is being charged with cutting the ears off his 3-month-old dog.

According to a report, Shawn Bailey, 24, of Williston used a razor to cut off the ears of his pit bull terrier puppy in a failed effort to make the dog look tough.

Williston police said Bailey showed up at their station Saturday and told them what he had done. Officers went to his house and found the dog. Its ears were on the kitchen counter.

Officers said Bailey told them he knew what he did was wrong.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian for treatment. Bailey was charged with cruelty to animals and released on $3,000 bail.
