A North Carolina man said he was walking his dog last week when a pack of coyotes surrounded him.
The man said he was walking along a greenway in the Schenck Forest near N.C. State University when his dog started acting strange. That's when he noticed what looked like wolves surrounding him.
He tried to run away but said the coyotes chased him. He then called 911 after he climbed on top of a manhole cover about three feet off the ground.
“All of a sudden I saw, I thought a dog, and then I saw three very large looking wolves. They started running after me,” the man said.
When police arrived, officers said the coyotes surrounded them as well, and followed them for several hundred yards before leaving.
Wildlife Resources Commission Lt. Sam Craft says there has never been an unprovoked attack on a human by a coyote in North Carolina. But Craft says people should never turn and run.
