U.S. Marshals have taken a rape suspect into custody in Arkansas after a search in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Marshals were looking for Demarcus George, or Marcus, in connection with the rape of a 6-year-old girl in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Marshals said George was known to be in the Tulsa area. He then fled and was found in Maumelle, Arkansas, just outside Little Rock, authorities said.

Marshals said George's offense was so violent in nature that "he is considered a violent offender and will continue to prey on minor children."

Officials said numerous tips were received from the public to help locate the suspect.
