Then again, the price tag has been generally higher on the auction site, going as high as $599. NBC News reported that the prices ranged from 99 cents to $9,995 and said it found 387 offers for the magazine.
Those copies were recalled, replaced by an issue commemorating Trump's victory. Topix Media, a Newsweek licensee, designed both a Clinton and a "President Trump" cover before the vote. Topix is a specialty publisher from New York that produces special editions for several media companies. Topix published a commemorative issue for Newsweek after golfing great Arnold Palmer died on Sept. 25.
Tony Romando, Topix's CEO, told the New York Post, "Like everybody else, we got it wrong."
Newsweek wrote a disclaimer on Twitter, tweeting that "commemorative covers were produced for both Clinton and Trump "by a Newsweek licensee, Topix Media, and not by Newsweek."
