Macon has its largest increase in coronavirus cases in 24 hours

Bibb County has had its largest spike in new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the latest information from the Georgia Department of Health.

The Macon Telegraph reported 73 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Bibb County since 3 p.m. on Monday, increasing total cases to 848.

The last single-day high of COVID-19 cases was April 15 to 16.

Cases have been increasing across the state and country. In Georgia, Gwinnett, Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb and Hall counties rank in the top five with the greatest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Bibb County ranks 18th in the ranking of the number of confirmed cases in the state, according to the latest from the Georgia Department of Health.

There are 81,291 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus across Georgia. There have been 2,805 deaths in the state.
