Julissa Sperling found the bird. "I'm from Panama, and he was saying, 'What happened?' in Spanish," she told the Daily Breeze.

“We put him in a little cage and brought him with us to the store,” she said. “He was the happiest bird. He was singing and talking without control. He was barking like the dogs.”

Sperling went to work to find the parrot's owner, eventually coming across records showing Chick was that person.

“So I showed up at his house and knocked on the door,” Micco said. “I introduced myself and said, ‘Have you lost a bird?’"

At first, Chick said no, thinking she meant recently.

The initial re-pairing of Nigel and Chick didn’t go well. The bird bit Chick, but now things are fine.

“He’s doing perfect,” Chick said.
