Airlines lose luggage on occasion, but what about animals?
A simple trip was anything but for a dog on flight from Washington to Mississippi.
The Pembroke Welsh corgi had a layover in Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport during her cross-country trip, but somehow was redirected west instead of east and made it all the way to Hawaii, KXAS reported.
The dog, who is named Bethany, was reported missing Sunday afternoon by her owner Paul Chen.
American Airlines said "We take the well-being of our four-legged passengers very seriously and we apologize for this mistake."
Paul Chen, Bethany's owner, said she was found in Honolulu late Sunday afternoon and that the airline would return her "in the next couple of days," KXAS reported.
He said he does not know how or why she was taken all the way to Hawaii.
