A heartbreaking photo shows teammates of 10-year-old Lane Rodgers lining his funeral route Tuesday.
Rodgers was killed in a freak accident during a tournament game Saturday night. A large tree branch snapped by the wind fell and hit Rodgers in the back of his head, killing him instantly.
Rodgers played little league ball for years with a team known as the Mid-South Storm. He was quiet off the field, his grandfather said, but he became a leader on the field.
Terry Rodgers said his grandson just loved the game of baseball.
“He would practice and they would get home and practice after two or three ball games and he would want his daddy out there hitting balls with him or he would be out there working on his field,” Rodgers said.
