A lightning strike killed 19 cows this week during a Texas storm, KLTV reported.
The cows were huddled around a tree, taking shelter from the storm.

"All of a sudden, a lightning bolt came down and the cows just fell," witness Victor Benson said.
The 19 cows accounted for about one-third of the herd in the pasture at the time. The farmers who owned the herd have hundreds of other cows in the area, KLTV reported.

The cows were removed shortly after the storm and the owners gave them to people to use them for meat.
