George Martin, the legendary producer known as the "fifth Beatle" for his work with the Fab Four, has died at age 90, Billboard reports.

Beatles drummer Ringo Starr tweeted the news late Tuesday, saying, "God bless George Martin. ... George will be missed." A representative from Universal Music Group confirmed the report.

Martin was behind more than 700 records, as well as 23 No. 1 singles in the United states and 30 No. 1 singles in the United Kingdom, according to the BBC and Billboard

He produced "virtually all [the Beatles'] songs" and also was the band's arranger, adding strings to "Yesterday" and "A Day in the Life," Billboard reports.
