The person, who was not immediately identified, was trapped after authorities started fielding calls of the collapse at 92 E. 208 St. in the Bronx around 11:15 a.m., WPIX reported. Firefighters said the person was freed about half an hour after the incident, but the person died apparently from injuries sustained in the collapse.

Five other construction workers were also injured, according to WPIX. Two people suffered serious injuries while three had injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, firefighters said.

The partial building collapse took place inside a six-story residential building that's under construction, according to Spectrum News NY1. Officials told WCBS metal scaffolding fell from the second floor onto the first.
