Two people were killed Saturday night in Phoenix in back-to-back incidents involving the same vehicles, police said.

Update, 9:57 a.m. EDT July 16: Phoenix police arrested L.C. Jones III, 29, in connection with the incidents, KNXV reported. Jones was charged with manslaughter, second-degree murder, hit-and-run, and endangerment, according to the television station reported..

Original report: Police said a 1997 Lincoln Town Car fled the scene in both cases, KPNX reported. One person killed was a pedestrian, while the other victim was driving a car, according to the Arizona Republic. The driver of the Lincoln was described as an adult male, KNXV reported.

Phoenix Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Maggie Cox said the Lincoln Town Car was traveling at "high speeds" in the center lane of a Phoenix street when it struck Nester Lopez, 17, who was crossing the street, according to the Republic.

Nester was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, KNXV reported.

Cox said the Lincoln Town car fled the scene and ran a red light two blocks away and collided with a 2007 Scion Couple driven by Edgar Ferral-Lopez, 28, the Republic reported.

Ferral-Lopez also was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, KNXV reported.

The driver fled from the Lincoln Town Car after Ferral-Lopez was struck, KPNX reported. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
