Restaurant owners learned the hard way that being supporters of Indiana’s controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act will earn you a lot of enemies online.

Memories Pizza has been owned by the O'Connor family for nine years. The family told ABC 57 that they are devoted Christians who support the controversial bill signed by Gov. Mike Pence. During the interview, the family stated that while they would not refuse to serve a gay customer who came into the restaurant, they would not provide catering services for gay weddings.

Family members did not elaborate on how often the pizza parlor caters weddings.

Kevin O’Connor stated, “Why should I be beat over the head to go along with something they choose?”

The interview quickly went viral, and those on social media were clearly not on the family's side. The restaurant began receiving a flood of fake negative reviews on Yelp and Facebook, along with messages denouncing the family's anti-gay beliefs.

Memories Pizza now has a one-and-a-half star rating on Yelp.

Kevin O'Connor told TMZ that he was forced to temporarily close his business due to the flood of threatening phone calls and hateful social media postings targeting the restaurant.
