For the eighth straight year, an Illinois woman who works at a cafeteria in a Chicago hospital delivered toys to young hospital patients in suburban Oak Lawn.

Jessie Tendayi is a food service aide at Chicago's Trinity Hospital, WGN reported. She said she spent $5,000 on 1,000 toys this year for children at Advocate Children's Hospital. In 2009, the first year she began spreading Christmas cheer to youngsters, she bought 100 toys.

Tendayi told WGN that she saves money from her paycheck — and sometimes works extra shifts — to fund her annual, one-woman present drive. She said she hopes to distribute toys year-round.
