Heavy rains the past few days dislodged a gigantic boulder onto an Ohio roadway.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Ironton Post in Lawrence County are maintaining traffic on U.S. 52 since the incident during the heavy rainfall early Friday morning.
A boulder, compared in size to a two-story home and estimated to weigh 1,500 tons, came loose, rolled down a cliff and onto the roadway.
No vehicles were damaged and no one was hurt, but westbound lanes are closed and only one lane is open on the eastbound side, according to OSP.
Passenger and commercial vehicles are being detoured to avoid the area.
A rock removal crew is working to clear the road.
One patrol sergeant said it could take a week or more before the road is reopened.
