A health care worker went above and beyond to make a hospital stay a little less difficult for a Fayetteville couple -- and her actions brought a 96-year-old man to tears.

Tom Clark, 96, and his wife, Arnisteen, 92, have been married for nearly seven decades.

The only time the Fayetteville couple spent apart in all their years was when Tom, an Army veteran, was stationed overseas in Korea.

When the two were checked into Piedmont Fayette Hospital earlier this month, they were put in separate rooms.

Being apart wasn’t easy for the couple, so Tina Mann, the director of the floor where the two are staying, knew just what to do.

She got the clinical staff together to make a special arrangement for Tom to visit his wife in her room.

As the two sat side-by-side after their time apart, Tom was overcome with joy and wept as he described his love for his wife.

“I just can’t be away from her. She’s the finest woman in the world,” Tom said.

Both Tom and Arnisteen are still in the hospital, but are being brought together as much as possible, according to a hospital official. The representative says they just want to be able to keep them connected as often as possible.

The hospital posted their story on Facebook Thursday and it has been shared hundreds of times.
