Hormel Foods Corporation has issued a recall involving its beef stew.
Dinty Moore Hearty Meals No Preservatives Beef Stew, 15oz. cans are being recalled because they "may be contaminated with extraneous materials," the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced.
The cans have the best by date of February 2019 and a production date of T01266.
They also have the establishment number "EST. 199G" in the USDA inspection mark.
The stew under the recall was shipped to Krogers in Texas and Louisiana and was on store shelves after Feb. 1.
Parts of a flashlight were found in a production area during a routine inspection.
But 40 cases had already been shipped when the pieces were found.
Anyone who bought the cans that are part of the recall should either throw them away or return them to the store, the USDA advises.
