A Port St. Lucie, Florida, woman was arrested after her car reported her she had been in an accident and damage to her car matched with a hit-and-run, police said.

Cathy Bernstein was driving her Ford when she struck Anna Preston's vehicle from behind on Prima Vista Boulevard, according to WPBF.

Preston called police and was taken to the hospital for back injuries.

The emergency system on Bernstein's Ford placed an automated call to police to report the accident as well, the report said. All police had to do was press zero to speak with the driver.

Bernstein denied an accident had taken place and said she was on her way home.

Police showed up at Bernstein's house and examined her vehicle, where they found "extensive front-end damage and silver paint from Preston's vehicle on it," according to the report. The airbag had also been deployed.

Bernstein denied the accident was a hit-and-run, insisting she had hit a tree before she eventually admitted to the crime, the report said. As it turns out, Bernstein was fleeing another accident before the one she was in with Preston, the report said.

She was arrested and taken to St. Lucie County Jail.
