A New Jersey teen wanted to do something special for her Sweet 16 – but not what you may think.

According to WPVI, Westville resident Natalie Doggett, who celebrated her 16th birthday Sunday at a skating rink, told her party guests not to bring gifts. Instead, she asked them to donate money to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she had open-heart surgery when she was 10 days old.

"It breaks my heart to see there are kids who their parents either can't afford the medical bills or their heart disease is so severe. CHOP saved my life and I feel like I really have to help other kids grow up happy," Natalie told WPVI.

It's not yet known how much she was able to raise. Anyone interested in making a contribution can make a donation at the hospital's website.
