At a time that  the name of the professional football team, the Redskins, has come under the political correctness microscope, so has the name of the school's mascot, the Arabs.

According to KESQ, the American Arab Anti Discrimination Committee has sent a letter to Coachella, urging the school to drop the name because it continues the negative stereotypes of Arab Americans.

The group wants the nickname, mascot, logos and even the schools halftime belly dancing performance changed.

Alumni say no, that the mascot honors the Arab culture and the role in the community.
