GOP accidentally declares Pence winner hours before debate start

GOP.com, the website funded by the Republican National Committee, accidentally published a page indicating that Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence won the debate hours before the actual debate.

Various media outlets caught the gaffe. Phillip Bump, a writer with The Washington Post, sarcastically responded to the mistake in a series of tweets:

Another journalist found a page on the site with a headline "5 Questions Tim Kaine was NOT Asked" also prior to the debate:

Both pages were taken down about 30 minutes prior to the start of the debate.
