On Monday, when Dairy Queen was giving away free ice cream at a Detroit-area restaurant to celebrate the chain's 75th anniversary, a group of five young women took the cones and grabbed the employee tip jar, to boot.
We would normally say “allegedly grabbed the employee tip jar,” but the girls later bragged about the crime on Snapchat, a social media site, posting “Robbed dairy queen tip jar” and smiling for the camera.
If it’s attention they want, attention they will get.
Add the video that was posted on Snapchat to the photos Dairy Queen customers took of the getaway car, and St. Clair Shores police have a pretty good idea who their suspects are.
The Dairy Queen owner, Liz Hope, said she doesn’t want the girls to go to jail, but she does want them to learn a lesson.
"I think they are stupid. I mean, really, who does that? They should be the dumbest criminals," Hope said.
