A Georgia high school senior who was killed in a car crash was named the school's honorary homecoming queen for Friday night's football game.
Alexis "Lexi" Moore, 17, died Thursday night on a Dade County road after the 6 p.m. crash, WTVC reported. Moore and two other students were heading to a homecoming parade when the accident occurred.
In a news release, Dade County High School Principal James Fahrney said Friday's football game would be played but the color guard would not perform, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported. Two students involved in the accident are members of the color guard, the newspaper reported.
"Everything about her is memorable and there wasn't a part of her that wasn't notable," Daniel Murphy, a friend of Moore, told WTVC.
"She was really vivacious. You never saw her give up. You know life would throw some sour lemons at her, she would keep rolling no matter what. She was always ready to go," Heather Chance, the school's assistant band director, told the television station.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a car driven at "a high rate of speed" by Moore's boyfriend crossed the center line after failing to negotiate a curve at the crest of a hill and hit a Jeep head-on, the television station reported.
Moore died at a Chattanooga hospital, while her boyfriend and another student were injured, WTVC reported.
